Apply today to join the 2026 Worthington Citizens Police Academy - Classes begin January 21, 2026 Notice: Inaccurate information was printed in the December 2025 edition of the Worthington Spotlight newspaper about the Citizens Police Academy being cancelled. This is not true. The Citizens Police Academy is scheduled to begin January 21, 2026. We hope you will register today. 

The Worthington Division of Police invites any Worthington resident or employee within the city to participate in the Worthington Citizens Police Academy. If you do not live or work in Worthington but are still interested in law enforcement, we invite you to apply as well! Participants will see aspects of what it is like to be a law enforcement officer and gather an understanding of the necessary tools and information needed to perform the job. Certified sworn officers teach the course and provide real-life scenarios requiring split decision-making efforts. Please join us for a fun and educational experience.

Worthington Police Academy & Alumni Association

The Worthington Police Academy & Alumni Association (WPAAA) is an Ohio non-profit corporation whose mission is to:

  • SUPPORT the activities of the City of Worthington, Division of Police and to help build a stronger and safer community;
  • TO SERVE as a liaison between, and to enable and nurture positive communication, mutual understanding and support between, the citizens of Worthington and the Worthington Division of Police;
  • TO RECOGNIZE the contributions of the officers of the Worthington Division of Police and to provide support in times of need;
  • TO SUPPORT the activities of The National Citizen's Police Academy Association for so long as it is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code; and
  • TO DO any and all activities and undertakings in furtherance of the foregoing which may be conducted by organizations exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code, and is permitted by Ohio nonprofit corporations.

Alumni meetings are held at 6PM on the third Monday of each month at the Worthington Division of Police, 6555 Worthington-Galena Road, Worthington, Ohio 43085.

To become a member of WPAAA, you first need to participate in the Worthington Division of Police Citizen's Academy, which is a nine-week program (one night per week) held annually each Winter.
