Women's Business Network - April Luncheon

Thursday, April 14, 2022 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

The Women's Business Network is back with our first luncheon of the year featuring Lori Wengerd, Owner and President of Home Care Assistance, as she talks about leading and living a balanced life.

"Living a Balanced Life"

Having balance in your life does not mean finding a way to do it all. (Most of us have already tried that and failed) Instead, Lori will talk about developing a "rule of life" that will ensure you attend to what's most important for your professional, physical, personal, and spiritual needs. Living a balanced life is not a static program but a dynamic process of being attuned to your needs, desires, and responsibilities, then having a mindset for addressing them — one day a time.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER: Lori Wengerd is the president and owner of Home Care Assistance — the premier provider of in-home care for seniors that she founded in 2009 to optimize the well-being of seniors and bring wellbeing, assisted independence, and joy to this phase of life.

Wengerd is a strong advocate for the benefits of "aging in place" and for the power of her profession to prevent crises, reduce hospitalizations, and readmissions, and greatly improve quality of life. Wengerd's company has a lofty mission to change the way the world ages, with 230+ dedicated, compassionate employees serving the elders of central Ohio. In addition to being a business owner and advocate for healthy aging and quality eldercare.

She is a 2018 recipient of the Better Business Bureau's Torch Award for Ethics, Chairs the Ohio Advisory Council on Aging, a legislated body of the Ohio Department on Aging, until early this year, served on the Board of Trustees and as a public policy Ambassador for the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, is the former Chair of the Board of the Upper Arlington Commission on Aging, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Upper Arlington Senior Association - is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Parkinson's Foundation Ohio, serves on the Board of Trustees of The Catholic Foundation, serves on the Board of Trustees of The Upper Arlington Community Foundation, serves as an active member of the Columbus Rotary and former member of the Columbus Rotary Foundation board, is a frequent speaker for a variety of organizations, such as the Alzheimer's Association, Cancer Support Community, OhioHealth's Gerlach Center for Senior Health, Central Ohio Professional Education Council, and many community senior centers, churches, and more .

When working with older adults and those who care for them, there's no telling what tomorrow will bring, and it's overwhelming to try to put all the pieces together for an uncertain future. Therefore, Lori would like us to all remember that while it's important to be armed with information and a good plan — it's best to simply take the aging process "one day at a time."

NONPROFIT PARTNER: In support of the World's Largest Diaper Drive we will be collecting diaper donations or monetary donations in support of Bottoms Up's upcoming day. Learn more here.

We will hear from Jo Anne Welsh. In 2018, recognizing the needs of single mothers, she and her husband (Tim) founded Bottoms Up Diaper Drive, an organization which collects donated diapers and distributes them to needy moms through food pantries and childcare facilities in central Ohio. The organization currently serves more than 70 agencies in 12 counties and distributes more than 80,000 diapers a month. In 2021 Bottoms Up distributed close to one million diapers—996,431!
